What is 3-D Secure (3DS)?

Three-Domain Secure (3-D Secure or 3DS) is an anti-fraud messaging protocol that allows
consumers to authenticate themselves with the issuer of their payment card at the time of
non-contact transactions (CNP ). It is an additional security layer that helps prevent
unauthorized transactions in e-commerce environments and, in turn, protects fraud trading.

For most merchants, acquirers and card issuers in the EU the deadline for implementation
was 31 December 2020, and for the UK, 14 September 2021. Although 3DS is not mandatory
outside of the EU or UK, it’s increasingly being adopted globally by card issuers as a method
to combat fraud.

What does this mean for me?

If you’re paying for the first time you may be required by your card issuer to authenticate your
purchase using Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) with a code usually sent by email or SMS.

If you purchased after December 2020 and completed the transaction using 2FA, any
subsequent recurring payments should complete with no further action required, however,
although payments initiated prior to December 2020 should not require re-authentication with
2FA, due to the protocols and rules set by some banks and card issuers, some payments
may fail.

If we're auto-renewing you at the start of the season, and your bank or issuer does not
recognise the authorisation this may result in payment failure. Before we can attempt to
renew your subscription again, you will need to let your card issuer know that the purchase is
genuine so they will authorise payment.

To assist with authorisation, you will need to log onto DAZN and enter the Manage Your
Account section of the site. Using the Update button under the Billing information section,
please renter your card details and save – you can use the same card, or a different card if
you wish.
